‘The Addams Family’ to be performed for spring musical
Jackie Coogan (Uncle Fester) and Ted Cassidy (Lurch) starred in the TV series “The Addams Family,” which ran on ABC from 1964 to 1966. It was adapted for the stage in 2009. MCHS will perform the musical in spring 2018.
The MCHS 2018 musical has been announced. “The Addams Family” will premiere in the Central Campus Performing Arts Center in late March. This is the school’s first modern production since “Mary Poppins” in 2015.
“Doing ‘The Addams Family’ means I can be spooky all year. I am no longer confined to one month,” Hallie Spindler, senior, said.
The musical first showcased on Broadway in 2010, after the Chicago tryout in 2009. The show has been performed in different countries all across the world, even with a North American tour in 2011.
Songs from the original version are altered in the school version.
The cast features 10 lead roles and a huge ensemble full of ancestors, so there will plenty of casting opportunities for the students.
The students at MCHS are excited to be doing another modern musical.
