Tyler Koenig, senior, bowls during a home meet on Dec. 12 against Joliet West. The boys bowling team competes at state on Jan. 26.

Make it six years in a row that the boys bowling team has qualified to compete at the state tournament.

The boys bowling team qualified for state on Jan. 20 by placing 4th at Sectionals and after winning Regionals. This is the eighth time in 15 years that the boys bowling team has qualified for state.

“It’s the most important goal of the season. You can go undefeated, take first in all the invites for the year, but going to state is the ultimate accomplishment,” Derrick Rapsky, head coach, said.

The boys bowling team believes that they have a real shot to make it to Day Two of state and even end up placing high if they all bowl as well as they know they can.

“Qualifying for state is a dream come true. It also really shows how far this program has come to qualify for state so many years in a row,” Jeremy Serchuk, junior, said.

The Indians will compete at state on Friday, Jan. 26, and on Saturday, Jan. 27, in O’Fallon at St. Clair Bowl.
