Megan Chiappetta lines up a putt early in the season at Heritage Bluffs. She was one of four MInooka girls to qualify for sectionals.

After a long and fun season for the girls, four Minooka girls golfers qualified for the IHSA Sectional. Their names are Abby Pettigrew, Megan Chiappetta, Anna Tomala, and Ashley Graves.

The University of Illinois is where the match was played.

Pettigrew scored a 94, Tomala scored a 101, Graves scored a 98, and Chiappetta scored a 94 in the Champaign Sectional.

Head coach Joe Host had some words on how the girls did.

“They all played well on a day that there are a lot of expectations to shoot a low number,” he said.

The girls made their coach proud.

“After a couple of holes, the girls settled in nicely and played to their strengths,” Host said. “ It is a great experience for any golfer regardless of the outcome.”

Although she and others missed out on qualifying for state, Graves commented on the sectional.

“It was a great and positive atmosphere to play in,” she said.
