The boys golf team plays in the regional on Sept. 29 in Normal.

At the Ottawa Invitational on Sept. 13, Minooka finished second behind Ottawa.

This invite was one of the final ones to close out the season, so it was especially important they did well in this one. Heading into this the nerves were high, but they were ready.

“I feel like we should have done better. We had a couple of mistakes as a group, but we still kept ourselves in contention,” junior Brydon North said.

Carter Stephenson finished 12th individually out of the 12 teams there and the 76 players competing.

“I feel I hit the ball pretty good but I needed to put myself in better positions in order to minimize the bad holes,” North said.

Although the boys struggled at times throughout the tournament, they continued to show that they were meant to be here.

Stephenson shot a score of  76, North had a score of 77, and Brett Widloski and Michael Kuchar finshed with a score of 81 each to give Minooka a total of 315.

We played ok, but our lack of experience at that golf course showed,” Minooka coach Jeff Petrovic said.
