Baseball beats Joliet West

Minooka’s varsity baseball team took on Joliet West on April 5 at Minooka. Minooka started off hot this year, quickly going 6-0.

However, they were coming off a hard loss to Plainfield Central before Joliet West, who had started the season up and down and came into the game 5-4.

Sophomore Ryan Anderson got the start on the mound for Minooka. He pitched 4 shutout innings, with 3 strikeouts.

“I think I pitched well, and I hope I can keep it up,” Anderson said.

Joliet West only mustered a hits on him, a phenomenal pitching performance.

Joliet West’s pitching was the opposite. Minooka tallied 15 runs, and West went through four different pitchers in 4 innings.

The hits came in bunches for Minooka as at the game’s end they finished with 9.

Mitch Thomas and Mike Murphy carried some of the load with 2 RBI each. Murphy also had a home run.

“We are playing really good right now,” Thomas said.

Minooka finished the game by winning 15-0 and going to 7-1 to start the season.
