When it’s snowing outside like a blizzard, you have the fire log roasting under the chimney, and your under the covers with a nice cup of warm hot cocoa  to watch your top five Christmas movies over your holiday break.

5. It’s a Wonderful Life

This is a classic film from 1946. James Stewart plays George Bailey, who wishes he never was born. An angel (Henry Travers) comes to earth and helps George’s problems to make his wishes to come true.  George starts to realize that he made his future the way that he wanted it to be, and if he wasn’t born then none of the things that he influenced the town would be different. I chose this movie because it was made in 1946, and the film was black and white which gives you a broad setting to watch it.  Also, after watching this film you will realize the message/theme of the movie, and you can relate the similarities to your life. I recommend this movie to anyone who hasn’t seen it, family’s, friends, and for those people who are in a relationship.  

4. A Christmas Story

This is a 1983 American Christmas comedy.  Nine year-old Ralphie Parker wants only one thing for Christmas, which is a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle (known as a BB Gun).  Throughout the whole movie, Ralphie tries advice and ways to get to know more about the rifle. On Christmas morning, Ralphie receives his main gift of all from Santa, but then Ralphie learns his lesson from his teacher and parents who gave him the warning of: “You will shoot your eye out”. I chose this movie because it’s a classical comedy in the 1980s and it’s fun for all ages.  

3. The Polar Express

This is an adventure film from 2004 and it’s  based on a children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg.  When a boy doubts himself from believing in Santa Claus, he takes a train ride (The Polar Express) by Tom Hanks who plays as the Conductor.  Then the train will lead to the North Pole to see Mr.C.  This movie is good for little children who discovers their fantasy of the movie. I chose this movie because it shows how you don’t have to see to believe, where at the end of the film the boy (Josh Hutcherson), finds a bell that he found for Santa from the North Pole.

2. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

This film is based on the series of Chevy Chase and the Griswalds.  This family is known for their Christmas lights, Christmas tree traditions, and the families coming over to enjoy Christmas.  This movie you can watch any time of the year, and this movie will cheer you up even if you’re having a bad day.  You can’t miss this old comedy of the Griswalds, and their crazy Christmas.  I chose this film because it came out in 1989, before any comedy Christmas movie.  

1. Elf

This is one of Will Ferrell’s funniest movies that he ever played in.  This movie never makes you stop laughing though the whole film.  This is the perfect movie to watch with your friends and family.  Anyone can watch this film, anytime, anywhere.  If you’re ever feeling sad or furious, this is the perfect fit for this movie. Buddy (Ferrell) comes to the North Pole as a baby, and he has to go back down to earth because his father Walter Hobbs, is on the Naughty List. This is Buddy’s first time going to Earth and he doesn’t know what to see, expect from anything that we normally do and wear everyday. I chose this film because I think it’s one of my favorite film of all.  I believe that this movie will never get old because it’s one of the funniest Christmas Movies that you will ever watch.
