It’s hard to plan things out― jobs, appointments, and other plans all conflict with each other and make it hard to do what we actually want to do. List, specifically bucket lists, have always been used as a way to stay organized and get things done.

Seniors Madalyn O’Dette and Chloe Bacza have both made “Summer Bucket Lists” so they can have summers worth remembering.

“There were a lot of days last summer where I sat on the couch and did nothing. I really don’t want to have that kind of break this year. I want to go out and see things and have fun,” O’Dette said. “Having a list I believe will help me to stay motivated to want to go and check something off of it.”

Similarly, Bacza wants to be able to make the most out of her time in between school years.

“It’s hard to plan things with everyone working different times and being busy with different things,” Bacza, said. “It helps me a lot to plan things out. There were a lot of instances where I would plan on doing something and then it just wouldn’t happen. I want to be able to spend my last summer with my friends before we all go away, and I want to be able to do more with them other than what we always do.”

Working a minimum wage job and saving for college does not a leave a lot of money to spend on entertainment and leisure. But it’s easy to create a list that doesn’t require a lot of funds.

“Not everything on my list is costly, one of the things on there is having a movie night outside and playing messy twister,” O’Dette said. “My summer bucket list isn’t finished yet; however, it has made me more elated to be finally be old enough and financially able to go and do what I’ve been wanting to do since freshman year.”

Both Bacza and O’Dette said that it would benefit anyone to make a summer bucket list and follow it. It will help to be organized and more mindful of how you are spending your time.

“We must seize the opportunity to live and have fun. Of course we will have fun in college but we can’t forget about now,” Bacza said.
