The varsity boys basketball team scrimmaged at the Meet the Indians night on Nov. 16.

The boys basketball team is looking to come up big this season after suffering a tough playoff loss against Oswego, 45-42, in the first round last season under former head coach Scott Tanaka.

The team finished with an overall record of 15-15.  Brandon Hill, Keegan Graebner, Kyle Graebner, and Adrian Paige were all seniors that helped set an example for the juniors last year, but they have been lost to graduation.

The returning players, now seniors Jaedon Johnson, Artayis Bailey, Carlos Hernandez, Xavier Horde, Grayson Hofmann, D’Anthony Thomas and Adrian Gutierrez all look to make a name for themselves this year under a new head coach Kevin Cain.

“I expect the team to work harder and communicate the best way we can in order to be successful all season,” Thomas said.  I’m expecting us to win over 20 games and go far in the playoffs.”

Gutierrez has similar expectations.

“Contending for a regional championship, forming a bond with all my teammates unbreakable,” he said.

The Indians are taking on St. Charles North in the first game of the season Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 6 p.m. at North Central College. The last time the Indians faced St. Charles North, the Indians won 41-38 in a close game.
