The boys swimming and diving team begins their season on Dec. 9 at Pontiac.

Minooka partners with Morris and works together as a combined team. Head coach Andrew Porth and the athletes are looking forward to the season.

“We will also have several returning swimmers in Jimmy Motsch, Jeff Bzdill and Johnny Halloran who all did very well for us in their respective events,” Porth said.

Porth also has very high expectations for the boys.

“Our goal is to get swimmers on the podium at conference and to qualify a swimmer to state,” Porth said.

The athletes on the team are looking forward to this season, too.

“I’m really excited to get back to diving. I’m also looking forward to becoming a better diver,” sophomore Taydin Murphy said.

Murphy also said the part of the sport he would most like to improve on is confidence. He would most like to be more confident when trying to do a new dive because it can be scary to do a new one.

Sophomore Johnny Halloran is looking forward to the meets and the people he sees there.

“The meets aren’t overwhelmingly long, and I like the strokes they [the coaches] have me doing. My teammates are really great too, and everyone gets along really well,” Halloran said.

Both coach Porth and the players seem to be excited for the coming season.
