The varsity girls basketball team defeated Oswego on Nov. 30.

A home varsity conference game against Oswego was a great way to kick off the 2021 season for the girls varsity basketball team on Nov. 30. Minooka went into the game with a record of 2-2.

The Brass sister had great all around games.

“We fed each other the ball when we saw the opportunities,” sophomore Kennedi Brass said.  “I didn’t force any shots and did my thing from deep.”

Sophomore MacKenzie Brass had 6 points, 3 steals, and 3 assists.

But the seniors really showed up for the game.

Bri Simmons had 19 points with 4 three-pointers.

“I felt good and practice really showed off,” Simmons said.’

Another great performance from a senior was Kinzie Caves with 16 points, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.

The girls did come out the game slow and they eventually turned up in the later quarters.

“We played a great game for quarters 2-4, but we got out to another slow start. I’d say that’s what we need to work on the most,” head coach Jeffrey Easthon said.

With a lot of young talent Minooka is looking good for a long season.

“As far as team strength, we rebound well, the girls get along great. I think that we are off to a pretty good start and we are going to get a lot better at a lot of things as we play out the season,” Easthon said.
