Wes Owens plays for the sophomore boys basketball team.

Wes Owens plays center on the Minooka sophomore basketball team. He has been playing since he was in 6th grade. This interview has been edited for clarity and length by Nook News.

Q: Do you have any siblings?
Yes I have a sister that’s 19.

Q: What’s your worst injury?
A: I broke my leg one time, basketball actually.

Q: Why did you choose to play basketball?
A: I chose to play basketball because genetically meant to play basketball, and I have the most fun playing it.

Q: If you had a superpower what would it be?
A: I wanna be able to fly, so I could soar.

Q: Who is your favorite teammate and why?
A: I love DJ Hampton, that’s my man. I feel like we have the best chemistry on the team. I always find him when he is open, so every time I pass him a three ball he always splashes it.” 

Q: When did you start basketball?
A: I started playing basketball seriously in sixth grade, I played for school and an AAU team one time.

Q: What’s you best skill or what are you best at?
A: I feel like I’m definitely a post player, I shoot layups.

Q: How far do you want to go in basketball?
A: I do wanna play college basketball. It’s definitely my dream.

Q: Do you know what school you wanna play for?
A: I know it’s a long shot, but Duke. I love Duke. Their basketball program is amazing. My favorite college is Clemson.

Q: If you wanted to be somewhere where would you be?
A: I wanna take a trip to Hawaii. I’ve never been there, seems beautiful.
