On April 26, the Minooka varsity boys tennis team faced off against Plainfield Central and put up a good fight, losing 3-4 in a game that was evenly matched up across both lineups.

Every game played was a nail-biter, all games with No. 2 doubles, No. 3 doubles, No. 4 doubles, and second singles all went into a third set tiebreaker. Unfortunately only the second singles were able to squeak out the win for Minooka.

Two standout players were senior Joey Dziuba and junior Weston Lorenz.

Head varsity boys tennis coach Peter Klepec commented on their success.

“What really stood out to me was the adjustment the two together made,” Klepec said.  In their first set they won a close one 7-5. In that second set they pretty much told each that we are the better team and need to start making better shots and making the other team make the mistakes.  Those adjustments in the second set earned them a 6-1 win and earned our team a victory in that spot.”

“To get a win on Tuesday would be awesome since it was senior night.  However, our biggest takeaway was finding a way to win,” Klepec said when asked what are some of the things the team can improve on as a whole. “They put themselves in spots to win now we have to go out and win those close ones.”
