Minooka girls varsity basketball defeated Joliet West for an outstanding game, showing superior teamwork.

Minooka played Joliet west for a home game on Jan. 6 at MCHS.

“Joliet West is a very aggressive team so I think playing our style, not their game, was really challenging for us,” senior Madelyn Kiper said. 

Minooka still came away with a blow out win 62-32, with Kiper going 8-for-20 on her way to 22 points and five blocks. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Minooka’s points.

“I definitely think we played well that game while we scored pretty well and played pretty good defense holding them,” Kiper said.

Their defensive end of the floor created 30 turnovers and overall played very well. 

“Sometimes layoffs can hurt you being slugged and not ready to play,” coach John Placher said.

The girls came off a long winter break and came right back into it and still secured their win.
