The sophomore Minooka baseball team added another win to their undefeated season beating Carl Sandburg 6-1 on April 11.

The boys’ defense would be lights out in this game only allowing one run to a very good Carol Sandburg team. 

Graham Lee had a terrific outing on the mound, racking up 10 strikes during the five innings he would pitch. Sandburg couldn’t get things going on offense due to Minooka’s strong pitching and strong defense.

“We played really well with timely hitting and our pitching was phenomenal,” sophomore Colton Francisco said.

Francisco would lead the team on the offensive side collecting three hits. The Minooka offense was clicking all game racking up six runs against solid pitching coming from the Sandburg bullpen. 

“I think we did good. Our offense took a while to get going,” sophomore Landon Sopkin said.

The boys offense would start rocking but the phenomenal defense kept them in the game until the bats started heating up, and the pitching from Sandburg couldn’t stop the bats. 

“Overall, I thought the boys played well in those games. Coach Anderson Sr. and I challenged them prior to the games to try to find a trajectory for our season to go that will have us peaking at the right time,”  head coach Brendan Acosta said.
