Junior Riley Rogowski, senior Allison Dunovsky, and senior Michealla Polk sell cookies during lunch for the ASL club.

Valentine’s Day is almost here and your ASL Honor Society and club is celebrating by baking something sweet.

They are selling cookies for $3 during lunches from Feb. 6-9. The cookies will be sold at Central and at South throughout the week.

A portion of the proceeds is going to an organization for the deaf and hard of hearing or the Will County Humane Society in remembrance of MCHS students Justin Ezerski and Cassandra Marino.

“We are doing these to help give back to our community,” Kelby Monk, senior, said.

This is the club’s second year doing the cookie grams according to ASL club sponsor Ms. Sarah Kozola.

They partnered with Happy Day Bakery, a bakery in Channahon that makes custom cookies.

When students buy the grams, they can attach a note to send to their valentine. The ASL club will deliver the ILY (I Love You) cookie grams that students buy to their Valentines on Feb. 14.

“We do this to raise awareness for the deaf community,” Amelia Craig, senior, said.

This is a way to help support the ASL club as well as getting a cookie for someone you care for on Valentine’s day.
