The Minooka girls track & field team hosted a meet April 8 against Joliet West and Oswego East. 

Minooka did very well at the meet. Most of the girls got personal records (PRs). 

In the 100-meter dash, senior Lizzie Egwunwoke won a 26.3 making herself get a PR. 

“I think I did good, it is freezing out and it’s windy but I still managed to PR by warming up really good,” Egwunwoke said.  

In the 4×100-meter relay, Natilee Carlos, Lydia Michalesko, Peyton Nuccio, and Egwunwoke ran a 50.49 making a good impact by winning the race and starting off the outdoor season well. 

Nuccio said, “I think we did good because we got a really good time for our first 4×100 of the year, and our handoffs were really good.”

Sophomore Leah Kleckauskas finished 3rd place in the 400m Dash as she ran a 63.54. 

“I did good, I usually don’t run the 400 I usually run distance events like 32 (3200-meter run) and the mile, I felt like I did pretty good for a faster event and I haven’t ran a 400 since last season, but I ran a PR for high school and it went really good.”

Also winning for Minooka were Egwunwoke in the 200-meter dash, sophomore Natalie Nahs in the 400-meter dash, junior Melinda Torres in the 800-meter run, freshman Clara Getsoian in the 3200-meter run, sophomore Lyla Cazares in the 300-meter hurdles, the 4×400-meter relay (Getsoian, Madylyn Hawker, Carolina Jorge, Torres, and senior Caleigh Werve in pole vault.

Minooka won the meet with 80 points. Oswego East 53, and Joliet West had 45.
