The Minooka varsity boys lacrosse team took a tough loss to the Waubonsie Valley Warriors on April 9. The boys fought hard but in the end came up short, 9-1.

The Indians came into this game looking to pick up their first win. The defense played very well with goalie Barrett Pennington fighting to keep the boys in the game.

“I would have to give a shoutout to Barrett, who played really well through all 4 quarters and has kept us in almost every game this season,” close defenseman Trevor Hebert said.

Pennington is a senior that is in his second year as varsity starting goalie. Throughout the game it was clear that the offense was struggling.

“I think we just need to handle the ball a little better, and possess the ball more when in the offensive zone,” head coach Joseph Urbanski said.

Although the offense had a tough time, the defense behind them played well. The defense has played well in almost every game this year, and has been a main reason why the boys have been able to compete.

“I believe that we just need to bond a little more, and get our passes down. We have the talent, but just have to work together as a unit to score more,” offensive midfielder Jaydan Hoover said.
