With anticipation leading into the game, the Minooka Indians boys varsity lacrosse team went to New Lenox to face Providence Catholic on April 3. This ultimately led to the Indians closest game yet this season.
“It’s like a rivalry game, it’s got its own name in the state,” junior Keegan Schuster said.
The Ferda cup is what’s called throughout the state by lacrosse players, the only other game besides the state championship that has a name in Illinois high school lacrosse. Both sides were expected to brawl based off of last year’s outcome. While that did not necessarily happen the game still came down to the line.
“I feel like Providence was the first game our team really showed up and worked together,” junior Brody McManus said.
