The golf program has been swinging into action with three competitions already finished for both the girls and boys teams. Minooka has been able to place in all three.

The boys received 3rd place against Oswego East, 2nd place in the Lemont Invitational, and 1st place against Oswego with a score of 146.

In their first two contests, the girls split against Providence and Lincoln-Way Central with a score of 174, as well as securing a win against Marist with a score of 190.

From the beginning of the season, the boys have been working on lowering their scores and have had one goal in mind.

“Our team goal for the season is definitely to make it to state. If we are more consistent I think we will make it there,” Brandon Brodzinski, senior, said.

The girls’ golf team has also been practicing very hard since their first day and their sources are the proof.  They also have had their mind on many goals.

“As a team we would like to win as many matches as possible along with conference and regionals and hopefully sectionals,” Rachel Kirkolis, junior, said.

All of the individuals on the varsity golf team are hoping to improve their scores with every match to be able to factor into the Indians success.

The team is carried by their upperclassmen in tournaments. Seniors Hailey Arlis and Dan Anfield hoping to lead her team to a state appearance this year.

“The season so far has been really great. Everyone from every level has been getting along very well and I’m really excited for how the rest of the year goes. Each year the girls start off rocky but lately I’m excited to see all the improvement from each and every one of the girls,” said Arlis.

The boys golf team has 14 tournaments left in their season, and the girls have 11 tournaments left to prepare for regionals on Oct. 4 and Oct. 5.
