New season, new additions for the Indians boys soccer team looking to make major improvements from last year. All starting from their hard work and dedication in the off season and waiting for it to pay off.

They had tryouts Aug. 12-14 to decide who plays on what level and to see who gets to be an Indian soccer player.

Last year they finished the season 4-18-1, during which they lost many close games. Fourteen of their 18 losses were decided by two or fewer goals.

Some weaknesses were the offense, as they only scored 25 goals through a 23-game season, averaging 1.08 goals per game. The defense  kept them in a few games but gave up multiple outbursts of goals. They gave up a total of 57 goals averaging 2.47 goals against.

They have set some high goals for this season.

“We want to win or come out at the top of the conference and to also win our tournament we are in,”  Tim Doody, sophomore, center defender, said.

Last year they only played a total of nine conference games they had to make the most out of all their opportunities so they can reach their season goals.

“This season overall I think we have a pretty well rounded team both defensively and offensively. It looks like it’ll be fun,” Erik Lakota, varsity midfielder, said.

Everyone looks to do their part on the team and looks to contribute to hopefully winning ways.

“I’m going to look to set up some plays and make a lot of tackles shutting down the other team’s offense,” Doody said.
