The Minooka boys track and field team has continued to show growth and determination this season, developing both individual talent and strong team chemistry as they compete in tough meets.
At the Belleville West Invitational on April 11, that progress was on full display, with multiple athletes stepping up and delivering strong performances in delivering a team 5th-place finish.
The invitational gave Minooka a chance to go up against a wide range of competitive teams, and the athletes responded by staying focused and pushing themselves throughout the day. From the distance events to the sprints and field events, the team showed consistency and effort across the board.
One of the standout moments came from sophomore Ryan Resar, who had an impressive race in the 1600-meter run.
“I ran a 4:31 mile and that’s my personal best so I was proud,” Resar said.
His performance highlighted the improvement he’s made and gave the team a big boost in one of the meet’s most competitive events.
Junior Nathan Janulis also had a strong performance in the 3200-meter run, running a 10:19.
“I really enjoyed the meet and I was happy with my time,” Janulis said.
Head coach Nick Lundin pointed to mindset as a key factor in the team’s success.
“I think the key to success is sticking to your own game plan and remaining confident in your abilities,” Lundin.
Throughout the day, the team showed strong support from one another, creating an environment where athletes could perform at their best. Teammates were constantly encouraging each other, which helped build momentum as the meet went on.
