That’s the game. The Minooka Indians defeated Oswego East in a nice win against a conference rival.
On Sept. 22, 2023 the Minooka football team played Oswego East away. In this game head coach Matt Harding led the Indians to a 36-14 win in a nice SPC game win.
“I feel great. I feel like I did good. I feel like my teammates did well. We all kind of came together for this game,” Minooka’s Marvell Bennett, senior, said.
Bennett is a left guard for the Indians and was a key contributor in this game.
“We had our team practice on grass during the week of the game,” Harding said. “We knew that Oswego high schools have grass and knew we needed to have our athletes acclimate to the grass.”
Whatever their role was, the Minooka players were ready.
“When I was out of the game all I was thinking about is how else I can contribute to the team while I’m not on the field,” Micah Hamilton, senior, said.
Minooka scored four touchdowns within 1 minute and 22 seconds in the first half, according to Harding
“We had a Pick 6 and also a strip sack and a kickoff recovery to set these scores up,” Harding said.
When the Indians came out after halftime, they started with a 14-play drive that lasted 8 minutes and 30 seconds long. This eliminated Oswego’s chances of scoring in this game.
“I was just trying to lock in. I was doing good, not anything crazy so I had to try and do a little bit more,” Bennett, senior, said.
During the second half of this game Oswego only ended up with 9 more offensive plays.
The Indians were able to capitalize off of the many mistakes that Oswego made in this game. Minooka came out to the second half confident and were able to close the game out 36-14 in the end.
