In a big SPC matchup, at the time No. 1-ranked Minooka defeated  No. 4-ranked Bolingbrook 3-0. Both teams were considered the top two in a tough Southwest Prairie conference on Sept. 16. 

Since the start of the season, both teams have had this game circled on their calendars and it did not disappoint. Last year Bolingbrook took the game 4-0, so Minooka was looking for their revenge.

Minooka played a good team game really showing off the team chemistry they have built over this year.

“Everyone wants each other to get better and everyone is pushing each other to get better. So I would say the team chemistry is a lot better this season,” junior Cayle Bomstad said.

With this being a big game for both teams. Minooka needed to look to just stay focused on the game and keep their intensity up.

“We kept our minds right, even though we were undefeated we had to stay focused on this game and get through that,” senior Jamie Franson said. “I think what really helped us win the game and get the W was our intensity. Our intensity never drops and it’s really what has allowed us to be so successful through this whole season.”

In any game where you hold the other team to 0 goals, the defense did their job. The defense put together a nice team effort to hold Bolingbrook scoreless.

“Our backline (defenders) communicated, shifted, and played well together.  The defenders were Buc Petrovic, Landon Currie, Cayle Bombstad, and Seth Korand,” said head coach Nate Spriggs.

Spriggs also talked about the goal by senior Andrew Calderon that gave them the lead that they would hold onto the entire game. Calderon would rather score again as well as Bomstad.
