The Minooka JV boys soccer team played a hard-fought game against Lincoln-Way West that resulted in a 2-1 loss.
On Sept.25, at Lincoln-Way West, Minooka was trailing 2-0 most of the game. Minooka’s offense was struggling while their defense was holding up against the fierce Lincoln-Way West team.
“Logan Blauuw made some great saves to keep us in the game and our defense did a great job all game battling against their talented forwards,” JV head coach Jim Kelly said.
Blaauw’s saves urged the Minooka offense to score and try to come back.
“Jameson Groark scored a goal after following up a rebound from one of our shots,” Kelly said.
Groark’s goal cut the lead down to one as the team saw hope in coming back.
“I felt pretty accomplished after scoring, and I thought there was a chance we could make the comeback,” Groark, who plays winger, said.
The game went silent after his goal as no other goals were scored as both defenses held up a good fight.
“Our best moments were when we got the ball upfield and forced the defense to go back,” Blaauw said. “I felt we could have done better by trying harder, and I think I could’ve done better myself by not making dumb decisions.”
