The football game between the Minooka Indians and the Plainfield North Tigers was a back-and-forth game that featured exciting play on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.
On Sept. 26, Minooka was victorious at home against Plainfield North 23-20.
The Minooka offense was successful in running the ball against Plainfield North. Running back Chase Nurczyk played a big role in the offense’s success.
“We had a couple explosive plays which definitely led us to that victory,” Nurczyk said. “Adjustments at halftime definitely played a big role in that as well.”
Nurczyk’s explosive run towards the end of the game was enough to ensure the win for Minooka. Nurczyk acknowledged other key contributors that allowed for Minooka to get the win.
“Without the offensive line I can’t get anything going. That’s what gets me going,” Nurczyk said. “Our defense held them to three touchdowns. That’s a big part of the win.”
This conference win provides a huge confidence boost for games going forward.
“I definitely think this can be used as momentum going into next week,” running back Tyler Minda said. “With having a game like North being so close it helps our mentality for other games this year.”
Head coach Matt Harding was also happy with the team’s win. He was pleased with the team’s perseverance and ability to face adversity.
“It was a great team win. We knew going into the game that they were going to run the ball and use their power team set,” Harding said. “We were able to stop them defensively several times in the 2nd half to provide our offense with the ball. Our team never quit and found a way to win at the end of the game.”
While pleased with the win, Harding addressed areas in which the team can look to improve in the upcoming weeks.
“We need to put all facets of the game together. Special teams, defense, offense. Each game we have had one or two show out but when we finally put all three together that will be exciting,” Harding said.
With this win, the Minooka Indians improve to 3-2 on the season with their second win in a row.
