The Minooka freshman football team had a tough loss against Plainfield North on Sept. 27, losing 42-0.

Colin Richards had the most yards for Minooka with a total of 100 yards in the game, 80 receiving yards and 20 rushing yards.

Minooka’s defeat didn’t get them down.

“We are going to take this week of practice really seriously and not mess around and make sure we know all our stuff,” Richards said. 

The following week they beat Plainfield Central 48-0.

Minooka had some others who weren’t getting discouraged by the score like Jackson Kenney and Caleb Bizotto who “set the tone” for their team

“The start of the game we came out flat offensively and didn’t execute,” head coach Matt Smith said. “From there the game kind of snowballed into what it was. To be honest from the opening warmup things were a little off so I wasn’t sure how the game went.” 

Julian Salas plays right tackle for Minooka. He pointed out some areas of improvement.

Salas said that they “need to improve on their special teams on kick off and make sure they don’t miss their tackles.”

Salas said Bennett Rujawitz did a nice job with getting in the back field and putting pressure on the quarterback 

The strongest points of the Minooka freshman team is their mindset and staying positive about the game even though they were down by a lot.
