The JV dance team placed second at the Andrew Invitational on Nov. 15.
It was a hard competition with some good schools Minooka was going against, but the girls pulled through. However, there is always some room for improvement.
“I think that we could all work on our focusing in practice,” sophomore Drew Voss said. “We need to make sure we are locked in and paying attention and applying all the corrections we had.”
There were some good things that the girls had in their routine but there are also some things that they can work on.
“We need to work on our spacing,” sophomore Lauren Sepulveda said. “A large majority of the scoring is on your spacing so we need to be better at that to get a higher score.”
When you are competing in a competition there are always some nerves. There will always be a sense of fear going into the competition because dance is not an individual sport so if you mess up. It affects your entire team.
“I made sure I stretched properly and just remembered why I am here and remembered the job I am here to do to relax my nerves,” sophomore Ally Rasmussen said.
There were positives in the performance.
“Everyone applied the corrections we had focused on in the week prior and also turns for contemporary came out super strong for the season,” head coach Georgia Kaminski said.
Overall the girls had a great first performance at Andrew.
