Minooka’s JV girls basketball team defeated Joliet Central by 41 points. The team brought home a huge win on Dec. 2 on Minooka’s home court. The game ended with a score of 57-16, adding another win to their record.

Minooka played a strong offense, as well as defense. The girls focused on breaking up their defense and moving the ball around. Starting point guard Bristol Lee scored 18 points against Joliet.

“We had a lot of energy throughout the whole game,” Lee said. 

The team had to change their strategies going into this game. Even though they started scoring right away, they had to change their approach due to Joliet’s level of competition. Coach Mialy Brooks was very proud of the way each player stepped up and got the job done.

“Whether it was someone communicating on defense, making the extra pass, or bringing energy off the bench, everyone contributed to the win,” Brooks said. 

Their energy was up the whole game and their communication was strong. The team was engaged on and off the court. Shooting guard Natalie Mrozek scored two points during the game. She got two steals on defense and played a great game.

“We still went full speed, but at the end of the game we tried to not score as much,” Mrozek said.
