The JV cheerleading team has been working hard on not only their routine, but also their overall physical, mental, flexibility, and confidence since Oct. 28.
Their first competition is on Dec. 14 at Bradley-Bourbonnais.
Freshman Alena Constabile said she was most looking forward to “improving as a team, competitions, and hopefully, after hitting our routine, seeing how happy every one is.”
As last year’s ’24-’25 girls were named conference champions, the suspense is weighing in as the girls inch closer to basketball halftimes and competitions. A common occurrence more than one of these girls noted is “to work more on confidence” as the sport is physically demanding and mentally challenging.
The girls are always there, having each other’s backs, hyping them up, and most importantly trying to keep morale up. They have different strengths to contribute.
Sophomore Lela Wehrle said “the support I give to my team” is her strength for this season.
For freshman Eastyn Pohlman it is tumbling.
And sophomore Tatum White said stunting was her strength.
Having positivity in this sport is tough to have and maintain as the stunts go and tumbling passes move across the mat, everyone is screaming and cheering their teammates on as the routine moves forward.
Heading into the heart of the season, the overall morale is in the sky as the team works together and runs head-on into peak competition season.
