The Minooka boys sophomore basketball team had a hard fought battle against Yorkville but sadly lost in a close game 46-45 on Jan. 22.

The team’s energy before the game was lacking; however, they turned it up when the game started.

Jason Brozek played well, and he had double-digit scoring with a couple blocks and rebounds.

This loss to Yorkville is not gonna get the team’s spirits down.

“We started the first quarter up 23-10, and then in the 3rd quarter we came back when we were down 5, and that really got the team motivated to win,” Brozek said.

There were other key players in this game like Cam Hromadka, Gavin Dupree, and Sincere Brown who all had a factor to this very close game.

Coach Aaron Woods wasn’t disappointed at the loss against Yorkville. 

“The team was feeling confident prior to the game,” Woods said. “Knowing that the last time we played them that we had some errors that we could fix ourselves to execute better and to find a way to win. It was a very unfortunate ending to a game that was really played well by both teams.” 

Dupree was a key factor in this game with 7 points and very good defense. 

“We started off really hot but us having costly turnovers and missed shots really hurt us throughout the whole entire game,” Dupree said.

Dupree said Hromadka played a really good game and he was the scoring leader and was the key part of the defense.

The JV Basketball team is a strong team with a great mindset and they are able to bounce back from any losses that they have and come back the next week better than ever
